VERY BEST WISHES FOR A HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY BOB.
Where has the time gone? Eighty is hard to believe.
I was the Winnipeg manager for Canada Business Centers from its inception until closing day after nine years and those days were some of my fondest.
I loved Bob’s sense of humor but when I signed off with little quotes from a joke book I acquired, he wasn’t impressed and suggested I keep my daytime job.
One of my treasured memories was one of Bob’s visits to the Center when he advised I should think of this as my own business as he could not be on call for little decisions. He said: “You will make some mistakes but you will learn.” Best thing he could ever have said as that freed me to use my own judgement rather than trying to second guess every decision my employer might make. Shortly thereafter we had a fully occupied business center with enthusiastic clients and when Bob would come to Winnipeg to take the clients for lunch, I remember him saying he had to make sure he brought his credit card because our Winnipeg clients were all on board and anxious to meet him.
Have a wonderful day, Maureen
