Happy Birthday Bob.
Endless gratitude is owed, first and foremost to you who made a huge Olympian jump from a commodity seller to a magazine publisher and of course also to the magazine’s associate editor Ann Hamilton, who has let a loose cannon like me in the hope that every once in a while I will get a shot off in the right direction. Hey, with Leon Thomas the photographer we won National Magazine awards for cover in 1987.
The bond between you, Leon Thomas (the Tall Guy) and me (The Man) was instantaneous and lasts to this day. The bond was as strong as the bond between The Three Musketeers.
On the funny occasion of Leon Thomas’ surgery, I made a cartoon at that time if you remember Bob. If you don’t see below.
Poor Leon, for several weeks his assignments at the magazine were always conducted standing up.
